Use Google to make sure no one is using your images

Thanks to Telah of Heart Felt Design, I just saw this blog post about using Google Images to search for your files on the internet and make sure that others are not using your pictures on their site without your permission or claiming your photos as their own. It's a very handy tool, especially if you are the creator of a unique or copyrighted product (like my Mon-stors©). Please read Kate Lewis Design's post for step by step instructions on how to use this function!

Just wanted to share this info with other artists, designers and consumers - product photos aren't the only thing at risk. Family photos, property photos, etc could be taken and used by strangers out in netland. Protect yourself - you can insert code that prevents right clicking and saving your photos from your site. While not entirely fool proof, it does help prevent image theft. Also, always watermark your photos - not just with your name, but include the specifics -  like "May not be copied" or "May no be reproduced" and include your URL so that the image itself hosts your site and credits it's source, not just your business name.

Also, to make the copyright sign, it's alt0169 = ©  ^_^
