What I've been up to.

During the two weeks of Spooktacular awesomeness on my blog (seriously, did you check out those sponsor showcases over to the right yet? Um, so much talent it's nuts!) a lot has been going on!

Mostly, I have been sewing like crazy. Pushing for one last stocking of monster totes in my shop before Halloween and getting ready for a craft show I have on the 27th!

(trying to decide if I should keep them stocked after the holiday... They do make cute tote bags for kids to take to the library, or to use as over night bags for sleep overs, over even just to hold toys in for car trips. Thoughts?)

I have also been blogging like crazy, working on new content for daftcrafts.net. I am gearing up to do a big virtual relaunch - not as a store front, but as a blog to connect consumers with awesome shops and products, and to provide great business, marketing, branding, photography and more advice to artists! Also there will be tutorials, recipes, and more!

I am super stoked for this relaunch. I have really missed Daft Crafts. It still feels like a little part of me died inside when we closed the doors for the last time. I can't even bring myself to sell our old display pieces yet. I think Trace is starting to miss parking in the garage, where all the Daft stuff is stored.

But working on this relaunch, writing content to help artists grow their handmade businesses, is sparking something inside of me - passion and excitement! There is nothing I love more than helping others, and I have really missed doing that since Daft closed. By bringing together my years worth of marketing experience with the knowledge of my lovely volunteer contributors I feel like we can really help the handmade community by offering valuable resources in an upbeat atmosphere, as well as shine the spot light on some amazing handmade shops and get them the exposure that they deserve by offering low-cost marketing through our sponsorship program. :)

So, that is what I have been up to during the big ole Spooktacular Giveaway! :)

Be sure to follow me posting as Daft Crafts on Facebook and Twitter - so much awesomeness is in the works and I want to share it with all of you! :D

Oh, and what do you think about the monster totes? Keep them in the shop year round, or just as a seasonal item?

  1. Keep 'em! We have two now and I'm sure we will use the one pictured in your post year round! It was named hummie nummie btw hahaha. Girls love purses and boys need cute totes that don't look like purses. They're perfect.

I'm so stoked for the re launch of Daft's blog! I miss Daft a lot too. It was such an amazing experience and I'm happy I get to be a part of the blog now.

  2. I love what you have been up to! :) I've been inspired by your work and passion to start crafting, mainly sewing, again in hopes of making a few bucks here and there to throw into an emergency savings and it would be so helpful to have tips and tools to turn to instead of searching like a mad woman all over the internet. Looking forward to it!!
I say keep the totes year round!! :)

    1. Thanks! I am glad that you are excited for the relaunch, I am loving all the content the contributors have brought forward so far. I hope you find it to be a valuable resource! Good luck with your sewing venture, and be sure to check out Storenvy.com - it's a free e-commerce site, that you can totally customize. If you are just starting out selling it's definitely the way to go!
