hello, 2013

Hello, 2013. Happy to see you. :)

2012 was such a marvelous year. But I have a feeling that 2013 is going to be even more astounding!

Now, I'm not much of a resolutions type person at all. I believe in constantly being the best person you can be, so if you follow that model then there's really no need to set a goal once a year to better yourself, if you are already always trying to be the best person you can be and constantly improving your attitude and habits every day, you know?

So instead, I set some small business goals up for 2013. Easily attainable, for the most part.
  • I plan to spend more time with my family by prioritizing my time and having a better work schedule. Done by dinner, baby!
  • I hope to break 400 orders on Storenvy this year! It's a small goal - I broke 300 in November and am only 7 from 350 now - but I believe in baby steps. :)
  • I plan to up production - more sewing, less computer - so I don't sell out as often next year. This year was incredibly busy for me at some points and I was selling out several times a month for the last few months in the year. If needed, I may take on an intern or hire help to help maintain inventory in the shop and prepare for craft shows through out the year.
  • I am applying for Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago with my friend Cari of The Mollie Shop this summer, and *fingers crossed* hopefully getting in! This has been a dream of mine for two years, I would love to see it become a reality! It's tough competition, though. If we don't get in, we will apply for the winter market I think, and if that doesn't work, we'll just have to shoot for 2014. ;) Just applying is a huge step for me, it's such a massive show, so it's very intimidating for me but after Strawberry Swing last year, I think I'm ready.
And that's my goals for 2013. Nothing too crazy or difficult, and they will all help me grow as an indie business owner and a mother, by providing me with more time with my family while upping production by prioritizing my time.

What are your hopes, dreams, goals, or resolutions for 2013?

    1. I am a bit nervous about the intern bit - I am going to reach out to my intern from two years ago, Jessica, and see if she would like to work one day a week with me again! She's in a very busy career now so I'm not sure if she will be able to or not. If not, I will put my feelers out and see if I can find a monstrously awesome match! :)
