Ruggles!

I can't remember how I tripped over Kenzie's blog Bewhiskered, but I did, and a few hours later I had read 18 months worth of blog posts and I was in love with her unique creations, Ruggles!

Ruggles are plush blanket 'rugs' in the form of dragons, animals and (my personal favorite) monsters with colorful claws. They are a fun multi-texturural toy for small children, and honestly, way more cool than Taggies. Plus they make a really awesome photo prop for baby photo shoots!

Kenzie got her start when she had her first son in the summer of 2008. Kids, always the greatest inspirations. ♥ She now has a blog, webstore and free standing site and sells Ruggles to all corners of the world!

When I asked her how she came up with the idea for Ruggles, she said when she was a child, she had a tiger rug her mother latch hooked for her (remember latch hook kits? Am I a dork for still loving those things?!). One of her favorite photos from childhood is of her on the latch hooked tiger rug as a baby. Kenzie wanted to recreate a tiger rug for her son, but after searching for a while couldn't find a latch hook tiger rug kit. So... She decided to create her own version of a tiger rug for her little guy, using fabric instead of yarn bits.

Her first first Ruggle!

Her son loved it, and it soon became his security item! And that was the birth of Ruggles! From there, she has been making baby and toddler-hood a lot more whimsical with her wonderful creature blankets!

Kenzie designed Ruggles so they can be used from birth (as wonderful photo props) all through childhood. She says her four year old still plays with his and sometimes uses it to check for and roust monsters from beneath the bed at night. :)

If I ever have another kidlet, this it the style of Ruggle I am ordering. I love it's swirly horns!

Visit Kenzie's shop and tell me which is your favorite! I look forward to see which ones everyone picks!

Fan Mail Friday 6.8.12

Fan photos I received this week! ♥

From Monique over at Razing Mayhem. She ordered two monster plushies for her boys, and from the photos, I think it's safe to say they enjoy them! :) She also included a photo of her youngest with his monster plush she ordered a year ago! ♥ Great to see he is holding up okay, even after mulitple washes!

Brand new monster friend, Bizzy!

Brand new monster friend, Pip!

This monster plush, Raybies, is a year old!

From Melli of Melli's Trinkets! She adopted Jordie right after I listed him, and here is a pic of him meeting his new best friend! :)

Ah! This picture is so cute! Jordie looks so happy in his new home!

And from Casey, who was the winner of the breast cancer Mon-stor raffle! :) Casey said her son "is all giggles when he is feeding her his hot wheels!"

I bet Chance will never be a hungry Mon-stor again!

♥ I love getting fan mail! It always inspires me to rush back up to my studio and make more monsters so I can spread monstrous joy all over the world! I love my job!! ♥

If you have purchased a monster plush or Mon-stor from me and want to see your fan photos on my blog, email me at LuandEdCreations@yahoo.com with "Fan Photos" in the title of the email!

Kia goes to the park!

My studio entire house is over-running with stuffies. I think I went a little overboard. I just love making them so much!!! My kid loves stuffies, and wanted to take a monster friend to the park today. I figured, why not? He has had two or ten monster stuffies that were all his own, but he wanted one from the living room mantel studio shelves.

 He picked out Kia.

Kia is pnk, dimply, and apparently, up for any adventure!

She survived the bike ride, strapped to the handle bars by a make-shift rubber band seat belt, and arrived unharmed to the park, where she was promptly whisked up into the play equipment to play pirates.

After pirates it was numerous trips down the slide and a few games of "catch the monster"!

Then another bike ride home for dinner and a movie!

I have one happy kid and one monster still in mint condition! I have to say, I am thrilled with how well Kia held up at the park today! I always strive for quality, but watching my kid mangle and throw a monster I had listed in the shop set my teeth on edge. It turned out to be an excellent a quality test - after an inspection under my lamps, Kia has no marks, mars, or signs of wear after a rough day at the park with a rowdy little boy and being strapped to a bike that fell over numerous times!
See for yourself! Here's some up-close shots of her under my LED lamps.

Since she did get played with quite a bit today, I am going to mark her down to just $13 in my shop! Check out her listing, and while you're there donate $1 for disaster relief in Japan and I will enter you in a drawing to win a free stuffie of your choice! Giveaway ends tomorrow. See this post for details and information on how to get additional entries.
